Mr Jago solo show @ Stolen Space

Exhibitions, News No Comments

The mighty mighty Mr Jago has his very own solo show opening at the infamous Stolen Space gallery on Brick lane in the big LDN.

It opens with a private view tommorow (which I unfortunately can’t make, which is a proper gutter) and then opens properly this Friday 12th September until the 28th, so make sure you go and check it out - trust me, it’ll be amazing

From Delays to Droplets, via Belfast

News No Comments

Here it is -Belfast exhibition the run-down.. there were delays, talks, exhibitions, a taxi driver called Alan and a pigeon involved. It was immense.

But, lets start with the delays, I probably cursed the whole thing when I previously, carelessly, blogged that we’d just be ‘hopping on‘ slEasyJet.. it wasn’t that easy.

Delays

We ended up spending 9 delayed hours in the exciting, organised, stress-free environment of Bristol Airport before “EZY”445 finally got on it’s merry way to Belfast. You should never trust anything that tries to spell ‘EASY’ with a Z.

Once we (finally) got there we joined Pone and Klingatron and set to putting up the last bits of the exhibition.

Hanging the Exhibition

And also got down to some live art..

Live Art

Aswell as the exhibition I was giving a talk as part of the SweetTalk event, alongside Dublin-based photographer Aidan Kelly, design duo M&E and artist / illustrator Alan Clarke

Sweet Talk talk

Who needs professionalism when we’ve got my presentation “How the flip did that dude get there? - An Incoherent Waffle by Gavin Strange”

How the flip?

Which was a time-line of my work, from skateboard-balancing College youngling..

Youngling

To older, wiser, hat-wearing now..

Xynthetic

Once that was done, there was much love and rejoicing amongst the Xyn brotherhood..

Love

Rejoicing

The next day our new best friend Alan the taxidriver took us on a tour around all of Belfast, so as well as hitting it up in an arty-fashion we got to see the sights - result. One non-delayed flight later and I had two very exciting things waiting for me on the doorstep..

Mangey Pigeon

1) A down and out Pigeon, and..

A shipment of Droplets

2) My first shipment of Droplets ! They are, officially, as slick as rick.

Droplets

They’re now on sale at the Jam-Factory shop and, if your from out-side the UK from the good people at the Crazy-Label shop.

Well, thats it for now kids. Keep safe and eat your greens.

Klingatron - Melbourne Stencil Festival 2008!

News No Comments

Our very own Klingatron will be exhibiting at Australia’s premier celebration of international street and stencil art; The Melbourne Stencil Festival! Celebrating it’s Fifth year running with art from five continents, the 10 day event promises to “..bring a colourful program of exhibitions, artist live demonstrations, artist talks, panel discussions, workshopes, master classes and street art related films to the public.”

Well, it sounds exciting to us - over the past four years the Festival has featured some 800 works by 150 artists including Logan Hicks, Kenji Nakayama, Broken Cow, Mephisto Jones, Sixten and Australian artists Anthony Lister, Meggs, HaHa, and Vexta.

So, if your in the Melbourne Area (and we really, really wish we were) on the 1st - 10th August then check it out!

Thanks to Wordpress, the site has now lost all the other pages and all the links, because it decided to take it upon itself to delete them during an upgrade.

I’ll have to re-write them from scratch so bear with us until i put them back up again, but the blog is working fine so that’s not going anywhere, thank god!

1 day to go!

Exhibitions, News 1 Comment

That’s right folks, just one day to go until the Nottingham show! Im currently sitting in my room in Bristol, surrounded by artwork and stuff to take back, as in an hours time I make the journey to Notts to meet up with Waste, Klingatron & Pone to start hanging the work!

I really hope you can make it down, we’re going to be working as hard as we can to put on a great show - so from the work on the walls to the live art, you can be sure we’re giving it our all!

The goodie bags are being prepped too, I’ve burnt off just 10 copies of the hand-made / super8 film by Robbie Keast & Danny Wainwright onto DVD and popped them in a random selection of goodie bags, and Ive also put an all-black one-of-two production sample of my vinyl toy ‘Droplet‘ in one random bag too!! (I only received 2 black samples, the first prototypes I ever got to see so it’s pretty special!)

If that isn’t enough to entice you, well then I guess I’d better mention the free drinks then hadn’t i… They’ll be beer & wine available at the show* and then if you’re carrying on to the Orange Tree with us for the after party, show off your xynthetic logo hand-stamp and you’ll get another free drink or two** plus happy-hour price cocktails!

It’s bank holiday Friday, what else are you going to do with your night?

Friday 21st March 6.00 - 10.00pm
The Art Organization,
21 Station Street, Nottingham (literally opposite the train station)
