I’ve been snapping away at each stage of the build, here’s a few shots from the whole process…

For comparison, here’s the old 5050, which is emty albeit for the last few pieces of stock waiting to go to the new place…

I was lucky enough to have designed the new logo for the new-look store, and last night I created an animated loop to be projected onto the building opposite on the opening night… well tonight we did a test run…

BLAM! Be sure to come to to Park Street in Bristol, this Friday 26th September for the opening!!!

It opens with a private view tommorow (which I unfortunately can’t make, which is a proper gutter) and then opens properly this Friday 12th September until the 28th, so make sure you go and check it out - trust me, it’ll be amazing

But, lets start with the delays, I probably cursed the whole thing when I previously, carelessly, blogged that we’d just be ‘hopping on‘ slEasyJet.. it wasn’t that easy.

We ended up spending 9 delayed hours in the exciting, organised, stress-free environment of Bristol Airport before “EZY”445 finally got on it’s merry way to Belfast. You should never trust anything that tries to spell ‘EASY’ with a Z.

Once we (finally) got there we joined Pone and Klingatron and set to putting up the last bits of the exhibition.

And also got down to some live art..

Aswell as the exhibition I was giving a talk as part of the SweetTalk event, alongside Dublin-based photographer Aidan Kelly, design duo M&E and artist / illustrator Alan Clarke

Who needs professionalism when we’ve got my presentation “How the flip did that dude get there? - An Incoherent Waffle by Gavin Strange”

Which was a time-line of my work, from skateboard-balancing College youngling..

To older, wiser, hat-wearing now..

Once that was done, there was much love and rejoicing amongst the Xyn brotherhood..

The next day our new best friend Alan the taxidriver took us on a tour around all of Belfast, so as well as hitting it up in an arty-fashion we got to see the sights - result. One non-delayed flight later and I had two very exciting things waiting for me on the doorstep..

1) A down and out Pigeon, and..

2) My first shipment of Droplets ! They are, officially, as slick as rick.

They’re now on sale at the Jam-Factory shop and, if your from out-side the UK from the good people at the Crazy-Label shop.

Well, it sounds exciting to us - over the past four years the Festival has featured some 800 works by 150 artists including Logan Hicks, Kenji Nakayama, Broken Cow, Mephisto Jones, Sixten and Australian artists Anthony Lister, Meggs, HaHa, and Vexta.

So, if your in the Melbourne Area (and we really, really wish we were) on the 1st - 10th August then check it out!

There’s going to be brand new artwork from 45RPM, Klingatron, China Mike, Sums, WheatFree, Richt, Pone, WASTE & JamFactory plus live art at the exhibition opening from those of us that are attending!

Then, in the evening, there’s going to be a seperate event called ‘SweetTalk’ where the best creative folk in the land (and little me) talk about about how we got where we are today, the paths we’ve chosen.

My presentation is all ready, with a tonne of slides and the title of “How the flip did that dude get there? - An Incoherent Waffle by Gavin Strange”, so if you’re around the Belfast area, come on down to check out both the exhib and talks!

Sick right!? Adam’s going to re-do this bad boy large for a guest artist spot at the Belfast show, so be sure to keep an eye out for that!

We’re all using the same format, A2 paper, for a nice crisp presentation, here’s a teaser of what’s been done already by China Mike & Sums…

So, if you’re in Belfast next Saturday the 26th, be sure to come on down to the waterfront from 4.30pm to check out the work plus live art from Klingatron, Pone, WheatFree & Myself!

Carson did us an awesome illustration and passed it onto me to do a colourway, to be put onto a tee or a print or something like that. This colourway isn’t final at all, i just wanted to share with you the sweeeeeeet illustration:
